The Lake MXZ21 Winter Cycling Boots is made using the Competition Last (Mould) which making them size wider and have a bit more volume than the Lake MX146 Winter Boots.

The Lake MXZ21 Winter Cycling boots are designed to be lighter-weight while still high-performing in inclement weather. Built on a carbon fibre and real rubber sole, maintains incredible power transfer to the pedal, along with grip and stability on slippery ground. The Lake MXZ21 combines this high-performance sole with a windproof, highly water-resistant upper for foot comfort. The unlimited-adjustable speed laces lock your feet in for fast-paced pedal stroke stability.

Upper:
The upper features soft-shell fabric, water-resistant microfiber, and a wicking liner with a seam-taped membrane barrier, making this cycling shoe highly water-resistant and suitable for various conditions. Clarino microfiber offers excellent durability and the suppleness of leather, with significant weight reduction. The upper is then treated with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating that prevents water from being absorbed. Like all other water-resistant products, this DWR coating will need to be reapplied with a readily available DWR spray available in the marketplace. Exposure to elements such as rain and mud will eventually wash away this DWR coating, necessitating reapplication when used frequently in those conditions.

Outsole:
Lake's Competition midsole is 100% carbon fibre and is combined with the Mountain Competition real rubber sole, which offers extended protection. The Mountain Competition rubber sole includes larger tread blocks that provide excellent grip on nearly all surfaces. This design ensures a stable and sure-footed cycling shoe suitable for wet weather and various conditions.

Closure: 
Speed-laces offer durability and fast opening and closing while remaining locked in place. Easily replaceable speed laces provide worry-free, unlimited, and ultimate customisation for an optimal, secure fit and unmatched comfort.

Water Resistance:
The uppers are treated with a durable water-resistant (DWR) coating that will wear away over time. We recommend reapplying a DWR spray 1-2 times a year for moderate riders and every 2-3 wet rides for daily riders.

We recommend going up a size from what you normally wear in the Lake Winter Shoes

This is due to the extra materials waterproof membrane etc which take up a bit of space and make the winter boots sized small.
